Buildings generate an important impact on the environment, they are responsible for 40% a country energy consumption*, 13,6% water consumption* and contribute significantly to resources depletion, but they are a fundamental part of our society: we spend 90% of our time inside buildings.
The green building movement propose a market transformation towards a more efficient built environment, with a lower impact on its surroundings and which is capable of commit with the people staying inside it. Technology is a key concept for the development of sustainable buildings. This technology must assure an efficient use of the systems and must allow for monitoring and control in real time helping in the management of the buildings. This technology also has to help people working inside buildings to be more efficient themselves; allowing new and more flexible ways for the development of their jobs, and moving towards a new model of office space such as the paperless office.
