London Electoral Process
The highest authority of government in London, The Greater London Authority (GIA) awarded Indra the contract for the technological development of the elections for London Mayor and London Assembly, which are the most important and complex in the United Kingdom. Indra was in charge of the technological deployment of the e-counting system, that supported the scrutiny and reporting of results of an election in which over six million of voters took part. Indra's technology acted as a notary public of the final counting.

The e-counting system includes the logistics for the transfer of ballot papers from the voting stations to the processing centers, their scanning, automatic reading of votes, safe storage of results, calculation of results, and reporting of results. It manages the reading of multiple votes in a ballot paper as well as the criteria by means of which human intervention is required for its validation in case any doubts arise.
The company installed a Center of Electoral Excellence in London, as well as three counting centers. The system ensures the reliability and quality of results scrutiny and has become a worldwide reference, as it can process more than one million ballot papers per hour. This allowed finishing the counting on time, although the high recorded participation made the ballot paper number increase 25% compared to what was expected.
